It’s 3:33 PM in Portugal, and I was reminded by my assistant to write my piece for our September newsletter. As I’m writing, my family and I are traveling through Spain and Portugal. When my clients-turned-friends invited us to their wedding in Málaga, in the south of Spain, I saw it as an opportunity to fulfill a dream that I had when Brian and I started dating.
In 2017, I had the privilege of participating in a charity trek, which included part of the Camino de Santiago. During that trip, my girlfriends and I spent time in Barcelona, where I witnessed a young family having dinner in Plaza Reial in the middle of the night. Since then, I’ve had this romantic fantasy of bringing my future family to the same spot.
Seven years later, we’re having dinner with our two kids in Plaza Reial, as my dream was being realized. September’s theme is “Fall Refresh & Goal Review.” As a real estate agent, we’re trained to set yearly and quarterly goals as business owners. Setting goals and working towards accomplishing them is like breathing for us. What’s really cool is that we get to help others and their families fulfill their dreams of homeownership. Just recently, I had the honor of helping a young family close on a house that took them almost two years to buy. For two years, they worked hard and made sacrifices to reach their goal—and I got to be a part of their story.
I’ve always loved this time of year because it’s the perfect opportunity for a reset. For some of us, our kiddos are starting a new year at school, and it feels like a fresh start. Summer is unwinding, and we get to recalibrate before the holiday season kicks in. There’s no reason we need to wait until the New Year to set goals. We can do it now. In fact, we can always create newly—moment by moment.
We are in the middle of our big trip—and as my life comes full circle, I am beginning to envision what the next seven years will look like. Where will we be in seven years? With a new baby on the way, I don’t really know. But what I do know is that if I don’t actively participate in the creation of my life, I’ll get what I get—and I might not like it.
I invite you to check out the articles that my team has put together—or reach out to me directly! One of my goals is to have more one-on-one time with people within my community. I’d love to learn more about your goals—and how I can help you fulfill them!
