It’s June, and the weather has given a taste of what summer will be like. If you’re like me, summers are filled with events, travel, and a whole lot of fun. At the same time, I’m still working and serving my clients. But by the end, I am exhausted and ready for fall.

While summer comes every year, I’m in a different season of life.

With a brand-new baby, a rising kindergartener, and our oldest daughter home for the summer, my plan is to keep things simple and easy. This means no last-minute trips, spending more time at home, enjoying nature, and checking out local events that the Puget Sound has to offer. This also means using our grill instead of eating out and having picnics in our backyard.

This month’s theme is Adventure and Connection. So instead of doing more, I am seeking adventure in the everyday and connection with the people I see every day. These days, adventure looks less like a busy calendar and more like BBQs in the backyard with my kids.

I say this as Maya and I are starting a new project together—The Big Hearts Club, a friendship bracelet business where half of the profit will go to charity while the other half will go toward funding our gap year. Brian and our 12-year-old, Beatrix, are joining in too. For me, it’s an opportunity to connect and do something fun and productive together, especially since we have a gazillion beads lying around.

Maya starts a business incubator for kids this week. We’ll keep you posted as we launch! In the meantime, please check out our blog for some fun ideas this summer.

However you’re spending your summer, I hope you find small adventures and real connections too.

Cheers!
