I’m going tell you a big (and embarrassing) secret…

Years ago, our family home went into foreclosure. People would knock on our door asking us about our house that we were still living in. It was about to be auctioned off, but my sister and I fought HARD to get it back. I worked with the loan servicer while she worked her butt off to make enough money so that we could get a second chance.

You guys, it was hard. Times were beyond tough. So when people come to me with their problems and issues, I get it. I might not have been through it all, but I’ve been through enough to know that most things can be dealt with. And it takes two things:

1. Teams and teamwork: EVERYTHING takes a village! Never try to figure anything out alone. More minds = more ideas = more possible solutions.

2. Communication: Almost ANYTHING can be dealt with in communication. Getting into communication instead of hiding. People can’t help you when you’re hiding.

Just these two things. You don’t need resilience, tenacity, grit, any of that. You just need to get into communication with people who can help you.

This is the story of my life—and I wouldn’t be where I am today without the others helping me and my family.
